You may have heard of a little snow storm that hit the DC area this weekend….The Blizzard of 2010, the Snowpocalypse, Snowmaggedon. But whatever you call it, I was snowed in Friday night and Saturday. Best way to spend a snowy weekend in my opinion*? Curled up with a good book (currently reading The Long [...]

Tony and Elizabeth Smith are the new owners of Afton Mountain Vineyards and were kind enough to do any e-mail interview with me about Afton Mountain, why they decided to purchase a vineyard and their future plans for the winery.
Afton Mountain Vineyards is known for its delicate wines with some unique varietals that you don’t find too many other places in Virginia, like Sangiovese and Gewurtaminer. Check out my review of the winery on Roaming Virginia.

Some of the oldest and best vineyards in Virginia [...]

My week-long vacation turned into a three week summer hiatus from my blog, but I’m now back in action ready to post some new stuff.
I went to St. Thomas for a week in mid-June so there isn’t much Virginia-related there though the trip was AMAZING. I seriously considered staying there and starting a Virgin Island [...]

Now that summer is upon us, I’ve gone on a buying spree for delicious white wines to drink during the hot and humid Virginia summers. I recently picked up a Rose, a Vinho Verde, and a bottle of Virginia Viognier.
You may be thinking Viog…what? Viognier is a wine varietal like Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc that [...]
